Hot stone massage therapy has been used throughout history all across the world. Using basalt stones, heat is transferred from the rock to the body through rhythmic movements. What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, non-invasive approach of evaluating and enhancing the body’s ability to heal and restore itself. This is accomplished by working within the craniosacral system, which includes the cranial bones (bones of the skull) the sacrum (the bone at the base of the spine), and the meninges or membranes (connective tissue) which attach to the cranial bones, the brain and spinal cord, continuing down to attach at the sacrum. Cerebrospinal fluid is produced within this system. This fluid is what nourishes, protects, and maintains the physiological environment in which your brain and nervous system develop, live, and function. It is this fluid that creates the subtle movement or rhythm of the bones and membranes that may be palpated within the body. When these rhythms are expressed in fullness and balance, health and well-being will naturally follow.

Due to certain stresses such as physical injury, emotional or psychological trauma, or toxicity, these rhythms can become restricted, blocked, and out of balance. The intention of treatment is to recognize where the restrictions are and to release them so that the body may self-correct and balance can be restored.

CST is an effective form of treatment for a wide range of illnesses some of which include:

Chronic Sinusitis
Stress and Tension-Related Disorders
Motor-Coordination Impairments
Migraines and Headaches
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Regulating the Nervous System
TMJ

What I cherish most about my career is the opportunity to enhance my clients’ well-being and vitality. There’s nothing more rewarding than hearing a client say, “I went for my daily walk without any pain,” or witnessing their relief and joy when they realize that the discomfort they came in with has vanished at the end of their treatment. It is these moments that reaffirm why I chose this path as an RMT.

Hello, I’m Meghan, an RMT graduate from Vancouver Career College. I take great pleasure in working with clients of all ages. Before becoming an RMT, I earned my certification as a Personal Trainer, and I continue to enjoy working as a trainer part-time alongside my massage therapy practice. In my leisure time, I am passionate about hiking, exploring new destinations, and indulging in a variety of foods, particularly experimenting with different flavours of ice cream.

Whatever your goals and needs are, I look forward to helping you to achieve them.

After years of care-giving and personal family experience with childhood oncology Don naturally progressed into the manual therapy field in 2009. While training at Vancouver Community College in the Occupational Physical Therapist Assistant (OPTA) program, Don worked with the physiotherapy teams on the Acute Care for Elderly (ACE) units at both Lions Gate and Vancouver General hospitals. He also completed occupational therapy placements at Royal Colombian and the Colony Farms Forensic Psychiatric Hospital working with traumatic brain injured and stroke patients.

Due to chronic relapses with his oldest son Owens leukemia, Don moved on to working in the Burnaby school board as an educational assistant for children with special needs. This allowed Don and Owen the freedom to travel for multiple trials and treatments at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MA. While there he was further introduced to the profession of Registered Massage Therapy.

On returning to Canada, Don decided to supplement his skill set with formal training in the field of RMT, where he graduated from the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy with the Achievement Award for his class. His life and work experience over the last 13 years has left Don well versed in a wide range of health conditions and rehabilitative areas.

‍I graduated from the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy with honours in December 2022.

Prior to that, I was a competitive Ice Dance Figure Skater, finishing my competitive career at the 2018 Olympic trials. I now continue to coach young athletes, and I am well acquainted with the road to recovery from both my own injuries and those of my teammates, students and now patients.

I believe in practicing the Biopsychosocial Model, which involves the understanding that many things can affect a single injury/condition. My treatment style will greatly depend on you and your specific needs, but will likely include, myofascial release, neuromuscular and muscle energy techniques, as well as trigger point release therapy.

My wife Sequoia and I are avid runners, cyclists, and snowboarders and lovers of all things outdoors. We intend to teach our new baby girl Poppy this same appreciation.

I am accepting new clients and look forward to meeting you at Healing Tree!
